Wycombe Wanderers Charitable Foundation

We have been fortunate enough to be addressed recently by Simon Wears who is the Head of Health and Wellbeing representing this charitable organisation attached to the Football Club but run as a standalone organisation.

Simon told us of the many amazing projects run by the Foundation the most current of which is providing a warm hub for over 65-year-olds to meet twice a week and enjoy a hot meal together at the football ground. This initiative is jointly funded by Buckinghamshire Council, the Club main sponsors Dreams and other bodies.

The work the Foundation does has an amazing coverage for young and old alike. They run, as one would expect, a football project for walking football to keep the middle age in trim, Saturday morning get togethers for younger folk including a club type event so not just football related.

They support primary and secondary schools with learning at all levels and run a Youth Club and very specifically recently introduced a Female Refugee skateboard activity to help integration into our neighbourhood.

This is clearly a very diverse collection of support given to our community and one which needs supporting both financially and with physical involvement. We will be looking at this in more detail.

We hope you will find this illustrates our desire as your local Rotary Club to be involved and help at a local level.
