Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Lady Howe talks to Rotary

On Monday 22nd April Lady Howe the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire kindly attended our evening club meeting at High Wycombe Cricket Club.  Lady Howe immediately adopted an informal approach, introducing herself as Elizabeth Howe and chatting with members and guests. She gave an excellent talk on her voluntary and unpaid 10 year role as Lord Lieutenant, with humorous anecdotes about some of her predecessors. She showed herself to be very much a ‘people person’, and explained how much she enjoyed bestowing accolades such as the ‘King’s Award for Voluntary Service’ to deserving individuals and charities. She mentioned OneCan Trust and Central Aid, which had recently received this award, and of which a number of our members are trustees or volunteers. She was assisted with her slide presentation by her Personal Assistant Kathryn Hobbs, who also gave up her evening to attend.  The meeting and excellent meal was greatly enjoyed by all of us, and has been one of the highlights of our year.
