International Projects

Rotary has a strong tradition of supporting Communities overseas.

Rotary foundation

Over many years the organisation has responded to natural disasters by providing shelter and safe water. It has supported people in conflict zones and promoted maternal and child health.

The Rotary foundation is Rotary’s own charity and over the past 100 years, it has spent $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world. It is widely recognised as being in the top five for Best Value Charity Giving.

Our Causes

END POLIO NOW

Rotary’s number one humanitarian service goal is to totally eradicate polio from the world.

In 1985, Rotary International committed to leading a worldwide campaign to eradicate polio. When the campaign started, there were 125 polio endemic countries and over 1,000 cases a day of children contracting this disease.

Today, thanks to our partnerships with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. WHO, CDC and UNICEF, the number of cases are down by  99.9% and just a handful remain.

End polio

History in the Making. Help Rotary make the final steps to eradicating polio from the world

Purple 4 polio

Purple 4 Polio

Along with the Chiltern Rangers, Taylor Wimpey and local schools, we planted purple crocuses on roundabouts in High Wycombe to mark the worldwide efforts to end polio.

Disaster Relief

Our members are quick to react to a worldwide emergency by getting out their collecting buckets and tabards. We would like to take this opportunity to thank local people for their generosity. Funds raised are used to buy ShelterBoxes and Aquaboxes or funds are sent directly to Rotary clubs in the disaster stricken areas. That way we know every penny you donate goes to those who need it most.
ShelterBox

ShelterBox

The ShelterBox scheme provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families affected by natural disasters. The boxes contain a tent and vital survival equipment for a family. Read more about the power of the partnership between Rotary and ShelterBox.

Aquabox

Aquabox

The Aquabox scheme provides safe drinking water. One Aquabox family filter turns half a million litres of water into safe drinking water. 361,000 children under 5 die every year from water-borne disease such as cholera. Aquabox celebrates 30 years of Aid.

Our Twinning with the Rotary Club of St Andre de Cubzac, Bordeaux

This twinning started over 50 years ago and subsequent members have kept the relationship going.  The two clubs have worked together on projects and enjoyed club trips to each other’s homes. Our Rotary friends in Bordeaux have shown us the sites and we have tasted the wonderful food and wine of the region.
